Stalin had no choice but to sign the Nazi-Soviet Pact. Do you agree?

i think he had a choice not to sign the pact.he still have enough power with the army to resist hitler's opposition. actually, signing the pact is also the same as not signing it, bcos hitler is still going to attack USSR.signing the pact was only to delay the clash. both sides knew that they were going to attack each other anyway, so signing and not signing is still the same...he can choose not to sign the pact and he will meet with the clash sooner...

well, i agree that stalin had no choice but to sign the Nazi-Soviet Pact reason being he feared that Britain and France would joined hands with Germany to defeat Soviet Union, though knowing that sooner or later,Hilter would attack the Soviet Union, but
in order to prevent/buy time to get well prepared for a any sudden attacks from Germany, Stalin had no choice but to sign the Pact.Germany signed the pact reason was because, it would give
Germany assurance that for the time being,Soviet Union would not attack Germany on one hand. While on the other hand, Germany invade Britain and France. Signing the pact means that Germany would not face two forces attacking it.Both parties were not sincered in signing the pact, but signed it for the sake of benefits that they could tap on.The only solution provided to Stalin was the signing of the pact, thus he had no choice.

In my opinion, i think that he had more reasons to agree to sign the pact rather than disagree. It was because Stalin was afraid that Germany,British and France would shake hands with each other and attack Soviet Union. Also he signed the pact because he was not present or in other words, invited, to the Munich Agreement. With this pact, he would be able to take some time to build up his army for any attacks from any countries like Germany, France and Britain as they were also the world powers.
Therefore, i think that Stalin had no other choice except to sign the pact with Germany.

I agree that Stalin had no choice but to sign the Nazi-Soviet Pact.He was upset that he was not consulted during the Munich Agreement and feared that Britain and France might collaborate with Germany to defeat Soviet Union as he was not getting much support from Britain and France.Stalin was sure that Hilter would attack Soviet Union, but
in order to buy time and prepared for a possible attacks by Germany, Stalin had no choice but to sign the Pact so that there will be less bloodshed.

By signing the pact,Germany can concentrade on invading Britain and France. Both Hitler and Stalin were not sincere in signing the pact. They signed it for their own benefits. Therefore,Stalin had no choice but to sign the pact as it was the only solution to buy time.

I agree to a certain extent. Even though Stalin knew that Hitler would attack the Soviet Union, the former was upset that he was not consulted during the Munich Agreement and that he was not getting much support from France and Britain. He had a fear that Britain and France may cooperate with Germany to defeat the Soviet Union. As he wanted to stall time to prepare for an attack on Germany, he had no choice but to sign the Pact.

no i do not agree that stalin had no choice. However it was a good decision as it gave himself time to prepare for the attack against hitler.he knew that hitler wasnt sincere in signing it so it wasnt really a must but a convenience.

to me, i find that stalin have a choice. the term of the pact is that they agree not to attacked each other. however for the sake for his country he decided to sign the pact. he knows that hitler cannot be trusted as he will go back on his promises. but at least they will be save for the time being.

another reason that stalin have a choice is that he have an army to back him up. therefore he should not be afraid when germany go back on his words.

however due to the munich agreement, there is a higher chance of him signing the pact den rejecting it as he feared that the world powers will come together and attacked USSR.

therefore he still have a choice. but it is the matter of time that worries him the most.

Instead of saying that Stalin had no choice but to sign the pact, why not said that he would be better off if he signed the pact.

On June 1939, Stalin refused Britain’s invitation for an alliance against Hitler, as he resented the idea that he might be dragged into a war in support of Britain and France. On the other hand, Stalin was also afraid that Britain and France might collaborate with Germany to defeat the Soviet Union. Stalin knew that Hitler would attack Soviet Union.

Therefore, Stalin signed the nazi-soviet pact to ensure that Germany would not collaborate with other states to attack him. He also could buy time to prepare for a possible attack by Germany. Furthermore, he could own half of Poland.

At that time, Stalin did have other alternatives. It is only that Stalin thinks that signing the pact is the best choice at the present situation.
